NEW FOR 2009:
- Available Bluetooth hands-free connectivity and block heater
- Exterior colours: Sand Beige Metallic, Quicksilver Metallic and Silver-Green Metallic
For 2009, the GMC Envoy is unchanged, save for minor additions of optional Bluetooth connectivity and block heater.
Also sold as the Chevrolet Trailblazer and the Saab 9-7X, the Envoy comes with a choice of two engines: a 4.2-litre inline six-cylinder in the SLE and SLT, and a 5.3-litre V8 with Active Fuel Management in the Denali. Both engines use a four-speed automatic. All models are four-wheel drive.
Features on the SLE include 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, fog and cornering lights, privacy glass, roof rack side rails and crossbars, variable intermittent wipers, intermittent rear wiper, garage door opener, floor mats, tire pressure monitoring system, auto-dimming mirror with exterior temperature gauge and compass, leather-wrapped tilt wheel, power windows with front express-down, cloth seats with six-way power driver's adjustment, 65/35 flip-and-fold second-row bench seat, CD/MP3 stereo, locking rear differential, trailer package, keyless entry, automatic headlamps, OnStar, and anti-theft alarm.
The SLT adds 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic dual-zone climate control, heated mirrors with integrated turn signals and reverse tip-down, driver information centre, auto-dimming rearview mirror, power-adjustable pedals, wheel-mounted audio controls, heated leather seats, six-way power passenger adjustment, driver's side memory, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, and rear-seat audio controls with headphone jacks.
The Denali adds side steps, bright honeycomb mesh grille insert, headlight washers, cargo cover, net and mat, leather-wrapped wheel with wood trim, XM satellite radio, Bose premium speaker system, and rear auto-level air suspension.
A body-on-frame SUV with true four-wheel drive, the Envoy is a good choice for those who want some comfort while towing a trailer or boat. The V6 does the job, but the V8 in the Denali is a good performer, especially with the upgraded interior. Handling could be sharper, but overall, this is a tough truck that isn't rough around the edges.
