History/Overview
The GMC Canyon is a mid-size pickup truck last redesigned in 2015. Along with the similar Chevrolet Colorado, the Canyon helped kick-start a renewed market interest in pickups smaller than the light-duty full-sizers that dominate the truck segment.
What's New / Key Changes from Last Year
Changes for 2020 are minor. A tire fill alert system is now standard. A remote locking tailgate is a new option. Canyon's All Terrain trim adds a driver alert package of forward collision alert and lane departure warning.
Available Trims
GMC offers the Canyon in base, SLE and SLT trims with rear-wheel drive, the latter two of which can be optioned with 4WD. All Terrain and Denali models come standard with 4WD. A 2.5L four-cylinder engine is standard in 2WD extended cab and crew cab models with the short cargo box. Opting for a crew cab model with the long cargo box brings standard 4WD. There is no regular cab, two-door Canyon.
Four-cylinder models use a six-speed automatic transmission. The V6 comes matched with an eight-speed.
A four-cylinder turbodiesel engine is optional.
