History/Overview
The Acadia is part of GMC’s relatively recent move into the crossover marketplace after decades of catering exclusively to pickup trucks and full-size SUVs. GMC introduced the Acadia in 2007 and redesigned it into a second generation in 2017.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The only significant change to the Acadia for 2022 is the loss of last year’s entry-level 2.5L four-cylinder engine.
Available Trims
Like last year, the 2022 GMC Acadia is offered in SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali trims. The two remaining engines are a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder and a 3.6L V6. All-wheel drive is standard in most configurations, but SLE starts with FWD. All Acadia models use a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Standard Features
SLE’s standard kit includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a power driver’s seat with lumbar, passive keyless entry with hands-free tailgate, a 120-volt outlet, roof side rails, LED headlights, six-speaker audio, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, and heated front seats.
Keeping you safe are lane departure warning, lane keep assist, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, and automatic high beams, front and rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitor, and lane change alert.
SLT adds navigation, Bose eight-speaker audio, an auto-dimming mirror, leather upholstery, LED fog lights, and a safety alert seat.
AT4 brings 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires.
Finally, Acadia Denali builds on SLT with 20-inch wheels, auto-dimming side mirrors, a power front passenger seat, ventilated front and heated rear seats, power steering column adjustments, a digital gauge display, heated steering wheel, head-up display, and wireless phone charging.
Key Options
A Pro Grade pack adds a sunroof to SLE models, and to SLT brings surround vision, head-up display, sunroof and a heated steering wheel. In Denali, this pack includes adaptive ride control.
A luxury package brings driver’s seat memory, power front passenger seat, ventilated front and heated rear seats, power-folding/auto-dimming side mirrors, and a power steering column.
A Denali tech package adds surround vision, adaptive cruise control, digital rearview mirror, and enhanced forward collision avoidance.
A trailering package includes equipment that lets the Acadia tow up to 1,814 kg (4,000 lbs).
Fuel Economy
GMC’s fuel consumption estimates are 10.6/8.0 L/100 (city/highway) for the 2.0L engine and FWD, and 10.8/8.7 L/100 km with AWD. In 3.6L models, ratings are 12.3/8.8 L/100 km with FWD, and 12.6/9.2 L/100 km with AWD.
