The 2024 GENESIS GV60: is this a PERFECT EV?
With an all-electric future on the horizon, the 2024 Genesis GV60 is a sign of what’s to come for this burgeoning luxury brand. Not much has changed for its second full year on the market, aside from the addition of a couple new paint colours to pick from, but then this electric vehicle (EV) didn’t need much.

This all-electric offering is aging well, but it’s not without its share of frustrations.
Issue:
Over time, the integrated charging control unit (ICCU) could become damaged. As a result, the 12 V battery will not charge and could cause the vehicle to enter a reduced power mode. If this happens, and you continue to drive the vehicle, there could be a loss of power to the wheels.
Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-174. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. This problem will cause a warning light to turn on and warning messages to display before any loss of power.
Safety Risk:
A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the vehicle software. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the ICCU and ICCU fuse.
Issue:
Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing.
Safety Risk:
A rearview camera image that doesn't display properly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
To reduce the safety risk, Genesis advises you to limit the reverse speed to below 10 km/h until the recall repairs are completed. Genesis will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the rearview camera system software.
