Genesis made its first move into the battery electric vehicle segment with the GV60, a compact luxury crossover that shares its underpinnings with the lower-priced Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Issue:
Over time, the integrated charging control unit (ICCU) could become damaged. As a result, the 12 V battery will not charge and could cause the vehicle to enter a reduced power mode. If this happens, and you continue to drive the vehicle, there could be a loss of power to the wheels.
Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2024-174. Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. This problem will cause a warning light to turn on and warning messages to display before any loss of power.
Safety Risk:
A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the vehicle software. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the ICCU and ICCU fuse.
Issue:
Under certain conditions, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display when the vehicle is reversing.
Safety Risk:
A rearview camera image that doesn't display properly could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
To reduce the safety risk, Genesis advises you to limit the reverse speed to below 10 km/h until the recall repairs are completed. Genesis will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the rearview camera system software.

Issue:
On certain vehicles, the automatic locking retractor (ALR) feature on the passenger-front seat belt may not work properly. As a result, the seat belt could remain locked after use. If this happens, a passenger may not be able to use the seat belt.
Safety Risk:
Not wearing a seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Hyundai will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the passenger-front seat belt, and replace it if necessary. Hyundai advises not to use the passenger-front seat if you're unable to extend the seat belt.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, the rear axle shafts may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, an axle shaft could fail and cause a loss of power to the wheels.
Safety Risk:
A sudden loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Hyundai will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the left and right-rear axle shafts.
Issue:
On certain vehicles, there may be a problem with the front seat belt pretensioners. As a result, the driver and/or passenger seat belt pretensioners could explode in a crash. If this happens, small pieces of metal could hit people in the vehicle.
Note: This recall replaces recall R0200 (Transport Canada Recall No. 2021-627). Vehicles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair.
Safety Risk:
A seat belt pretensioner that explodes could create a risk of injury.
Corrective Action:
Genesis will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your vehicle to a dealership to install protective caps over the driver and front passenger's seat belt pretensioners, as necessary.
