NEW FOR 2009:
- Standard SOS-Post Crash Alert System
An all-new model for 2008, the Ford Taurus is unchanged for 2009, save for the addition of standard SOS-Post Crash Alert System. The system unlocks the vehicle doors, and activates the horn and emergency flashers to alert others to its location in the event that the airbags are deployed.
The Taurus uses a 3.5-litre Duratec V6 engine, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, and is available as the SEL or Limited. The SEL is front-wheel drive and can be optioned to all-wheel; the Limited is all-wheel only.
Features on the SEL include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, illuminated entry, power locks with keyless entry and SecuriCode keypad, tire pressure monitoring system, eight-way driver and two-way passenger power seats, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, fold-flat front passenger seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, six-CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input and Sirius satellite radio, floor mats, centre floor console, leather-wrapped tilt wheel with audio controls, message centre with compass and outside temperature display, auto up/down driver's window, rear-seat reading lights, illuminated vanity mirrors, cruise control, automatic headlamps, fog lamps, heated mirrors with security approach lamps, and woodgrain accent trim.
The Limited adds 18-inch alloy wheels, driver's side memory, reverse sensing system, power-adjustable pedals, analog clock, garage door opener, premium six-CD/MP3 stereo, Sync, four-way fold-flat power passenger seat, leather-trimmed heated seats, and power sunroof.
Available options on both models include manual rear window sunshades, engine block heater and voice-activated navigation system; the SEL can be optioned with heated leather seats, power-adjustable pedals, reverse sensing system and power sunroof, while the Limited can have a wood package of woodgrain steering wheel insert and shifter knob added.
The Taurus offers a smooth ride, wide doors, "command seating" with tall roofline, lots of legroom, and a huge trunk, and is a great choice for taking passengers in comfort whether it's across the city or right across the country. Should you need even more room, the Taurus also shares its platform with the three-row Taurus X, as well as the all-new Ford Flex.
