This iconic pony car rides into 2013 with a revised snout and tail treatment and a bit more power. The 5.0-litre V8 is up eight horses to 420 hp. Fitted with the crisp-shifting six-speed manual transmission, the sharp steering and fine handling GT is all the Mustang you could want. Until you drive the Boss 302. Re-engineered from nose to tail, this 444 hp ?Stang is a thinly disguised yet street-able track weapon with an epic soundtrack. Best Mustang ever. Not to say the 305 hp V6 Mustang is chopped liver. Good value and a great performer, especially with optional Performance Pack.
The Mustang also lends itself well to the classic top-down experience. Yes, it loses a bit of structural integrity with the roof gone, but overall it drives like the coupe, which is to say sharp and fast ? especially in GT guise. With the top up the cabin is surprisingly well isolated, and with said powered roof tucked under the tonneau cover, four noggins can enjoy the wind and sun, and take in an earful of that classic Motown V8 soundtrack.
All 2013 Mustangs get a restyled front fascia with HID headlamps and a sequential blinking LED taillight cluster.

V6 Premium Coupe trim adds 17-inch machined aluminum wheels with painted pockets and the choice of a wider range of options packages. This trim is also available as a convertible.
GT Coupe trim adds (to V6 Premium) 5.0L Coyote V8 engine, 18-inch painted aluminum wheels, ambient lighting, four-gauge cluster with 4.2-inch LCD message centre, universal garage door opener, auto-dimming rear view mirror, aluminum interior accents, bright accented pedals, bright chrome door speaker surround, eight-speaker Shaker audio, Ford SYNC, six-way power adjustable driver seat, leather trimmed seating, heated front seats, fog lights, deck spoiler, GT grille and splitter, power dome hood with heat extractors, 3.15:1 limited slip rear differential (automatic), 3.55 rear differential (manual), body colour mirrors, and illuminated entry. This trim is also available as a convertible.
Boss 302 trim adds Hi-Po 5.0L V8 engine, Alcantara trimmed steering wheel, unique Boss cloth seats, unique Boss bodywork and stripes, Brembo front brakes, adjustable front and rear shocks, 3.73 rear axle ratio, unique 19-inch machines aluminum wheels, tire inflation kit (in place of spare tire), quad exhaust, and ditches many of the "nice to have" options included in the GT, such as the Shaker audio system and bright trim pieces.
Shelby GT500 adds (to GT) 5.8L supercharged V8 engine, Tremac six-speed manual transmission, 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, TrackApps, MyColor with SVT graphics, brushed aluminum gauged cluster and air vents, embroidered floor mats, Alcantara trimmed steering wheel, quad exhaust, Shelby rear decklid spoiler, unique front and rear Shelby fascias, aluminum hood with dual heat extractors, racing stripes and GT500 side stripes, Brembo front rotors and calipers, adjustable front and rear shocks, and 3.31 limited slip rear differential. This trim is also available as a convertible.
