For the 2010 model year, the Ford Mustang has been redesigned, with a new exterior appearance including dome hood, new fenders, quarter and door panels, headlamps with integrated park and turn lamps, sequential LED taillamps, and new wheels. Inside, it receives a one-piece soft instrument panel, new centre floor console, ice blue instrumentation lighting, increased seat bolstering, covered up holders, and a modernized centre stack instrument panel. The GT's 4.6-litre V8 also adds a cold air induction for increased power. Option changes include a rearview camera in the GT's navigation system package, a convertible boot cover is now optional, and SYNC and Sirius satellite radio are standard on the GT and available on all V6 models except the Value Leader as part of the Interior Upgrade Package.
Available as a coupe or convertible, the Mustang is available with a choice of three engines: a 4.0-litre V6 with five-speed manual transmission or optional five-speed automatic; a 4.6-litre V8 with heavier-duty five-speed manual or optional five-speed automatic in the GT; and a 5.4-litre supercharged V8 in the Shelby GT500, with six-speed manual transmission.
Features on the V6 include 18-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, tire pressure monitoring system, six-way power driver's seat, cloth seats, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input jack, cruise control, full centre floor console with armrest and locking storage, power locks with keyless entry, power windows with auto up/down, LED taillights, power mirrors, rear spoiler, and variable intermittent wipers. The coupe includes a 50/50 split-folding rear seat, while the convertible uses a vinyl top. The Value Leader uses 17-inch wheels.
The GT adds leather-trimmed seats, MyColor instrument gauge illumination, ambient lighting, SYNC voice-activated communications and entertainment system, leather-wrapped wheel with satin aluminum spokes, message centre, Shaker 500 Audio System with six-CD/MP3 stereo and Sirius satellite radio, automatic headlamps, and fog lamps.
The Shelby GT500 adds Cobra badge, unique aluminum power dome hood, unique front and rear fascias, rear diffuser and deck lid spoiler, and over-the-top racing stripes. The coupe also adds 19-inch premium painted aluminum wheels.
Available packages for the V6 Mustang include a Comfort Group of heated seats, six-way power passenger seat, and auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass; an Interior Upgrade Package of MyColor illumination, SYNC, Shaker 500 stereo, leather-wrapped wheel, sport bucket seats, satin aluminum finish accents and message centre; a Next-Gen Navigation Package; and a Security Package of anti-theft system and wheel locks. The GT can be optioned with a Next-Gen Navigation Package; a Premier Trim with Colour Accent Package that adds charcoal black interior with colour-accented seats; the Security Package; and a Track Package of dual-piston calipers, performance brake pads, recalibrated electronic stability control, and with the manual-equipped coupe, a performance 3.73 rear axle ratio.
