NEW FOR 2016:
- Minor changes to equipment package levels.
- Red Brick leather trim discontinued.
- Shadow Black replaces Tuxedo Black.
For 2016, Ford’s Fusion midsize sedan is carried over without any major changes. Despite the fact that it has been on sale for four years, it remains a competitive offering with great interior and exterior styling, plenty of standard equipment, and a spacious cabin and trunk. We expect the Fusion to receive a mid-cycle update for model year 2017 including new exterior and interior styling, plus the latest Sync3 infotainment system.
As a product designed for global markets, the Fusion has a European feel on the road. It’s quiet, composed, and offers agile handling that belies its size and weight. Top-level SE and Titanium models with the 2.0 EcoBoost and all-wheel drive offer road manners comparable to entry level luxury cars. Standard Fusions are generously equipped, with standard electronic parking brake, aluminum wheels, reverse camera, Bluetooth, USB, and all the power-operated basics.
New for 2016 is an SE Winter Package that bundles floor mats, heated cloth seats, and a remote starter; the SE MyFord Touch Technology Package has been renamed the Technology Package. There are also new wheel choices on offer to SE customers.
The Fusion is offered with three engines: a 2.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder (175 hp, 175 lb-ft of torque), a 1.5-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo (181 hp, 185 lb-ft of torque), and a 2.0-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo (240 hp, 270 lb-ft of torque). All come paired to a six-speed automatic as standard. The 2.5 and 1.5 motors come with front-wheel drive; the 2.0 can be had with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Ford also offers a hybrid Fusion, which is covered in a separate report.
