2016 Ford Focus Electric

The Ford Focus Electric is one of the more affordable EV's on the market today, with a base price starting at $31,999. While there are other choices for smilar money or less, like the Mitsubishi i-MiEV or the Nissan Leaf, the Focus has the advantage of being a normal car. Other than the powertrain, of course. It has five seats, four doors, conventional styling, everything that makes the Focus a good choice for a compact hatch holds true here. It even has a much more powerful motor than the competition, with 143 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. The range estimate is 122 km, which is a little short, but still reasonable for most people.

The Focus drives like the gas Focus does, with excellent handling, a well equipped cabin, and an update for 2016 to Sync 3 infotainment. The most noticeable difference (other than the silence) is that the hatch area is smaller to make room for the battery.

The Focus Electric comes standard with split-folding rear seats, heated front seats with manual adjustment, dual-zone climate control, 17-inch alloys, a nine-speaker Sony audio system with Navigation, cruise control, unique EV info display, leather wrapped steering wheel, and rear parking sensors. The only real options are leather seating, and a pedestrian alert system, which is basically a speaker mounted to the outside that makes a strange noise between two and about 15 km/h.
