History/Overview
Ford refreshed its F-350 last year after a full 2017 redesign for this top model in the brand’s consumer pickup truck range. The F-350 boasts the highest payload and towing ratings without moving into the commercial realm, where Ford’s F-450 and F-550 models compete. There are no major changes for 2021.
Available Trims
Ford offers the F-350 in XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims. There are regular, Super and Crew Cab body styles, single- and dual rear wheel axles, rear- and four-wheel drive systems, and three different V8 engines on offer: a 6.2L gas V8, a 7.3L gas V8, and a 6.7L turbodiesel V8. A 10-speed transmission is standard across the board.
Standard Features
XL comes with 17-inch painted steel wheels, air conditioning, vinyl floors, a 2.3” driver info display, tilt-and-telescopic steering, a four-speaker stereo, and tire pressure monitoring.
XLT adds 18-inch aluminum wheels, cruise control, carpeted floors, a 4.2-inch driver info display, a 110-volt power outlet, a five/seven-speaker stereo (regular/Super and Crew Cab), Sync 3 infotainment, satellite radio, power-adjustable/heated side mirrors, dual-zone automatic A/C, and keyless entry.
The XLT safety kit comprises blind spot monitoring, automatic high beams, and forward collision warning with automatic braking.
Lariat trim brings power-adjustable pedals, an 8.0-inch driver info display, an additional 110-volt power outlet, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, backup sensors, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a garage door remote, under-seat storage, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, heated/ventilated power-adjustable front seats, chrome tubular running boards, leather seating, body-colour door handles, for lights, LED box lighting, and a power-sliding rear window.
King Ranch adds remote engine start, wireless smartphone charging, a heated steering wheel, a rain-sensing windshield, lane keeping alert, navigation, upgraded leather seating, heated rear seats, LED fog lights, LED headlights, two-tone paint, and a remote tailgate release.
Platinum gains adaptive cruise control, 20-inch wheels, upgraded leather seating, power running boards, and chrome tow hooks.
Limited is standard with the diesel engine, a suede headliner, adaptive steering, and upfitter switches.
Key Options
An FX4 off-road package bundles all-terrain tires with off-road shocks, skid plates, and hill descent control.
An XLT premium package brings 18-inch wheels, chrome exterior trim, heated front seats, backup sensors, keyless entry keypad, and fog lights.
A fifth-wheel trailering pack comes with hitch mounting points in the cargo bed, a structural crossmember under the bed, and a wiring connector in the cargo bed wall.
Fuel Economy
Natural Resources Canada considers the F-350 a commercial vehicle and doesn’t require Ford to provide fuel consumption estimates for it.
Competition
The Ford F-350 Super Duty does battle with the Ram 3500, Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and GMC Sierra 3500 models – all trucks that, when specified in their upper-level trims, can cost as much as a European luxury sedan.
