For decades now, Ford’s Super Duty heavy-duty pickup trucks have been serving drivers who need all the capability they can get in a full-size pickup. The F-250 you’re reading about here is the entry point to the Super Duty range, which also includes F-350, F-450, and F-550 models that are all covered in separate buyer’s guide entries.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The Ford F-Series Super Duty line of trucks has been redesigned for 2023.
Available Trims
Ford offers the F-250 in XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trim levels. Engine choices include 6.7L and 7.3L turbodiesel V8s and a 6.8L gas V8. A 10-speed transmission sends power to either the rear wheels or all four. You can also choose from a variety of cab and bed configurations.
Standard Features
XL trim comes with cruise control, four-speaker audio, an 8-inch touchscreen, manual A/C, and 17-inch steel wheels.
XLT adds automatic high beams, forward collision mitigation, an auto-dimming mirror, five-speaker audio, a power driver’s seat, fog lights, a power tailgate lock, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Lariat models gain a 12-inch productivity screen, surround-view cameras, blind spot monitoring, remote engine start, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, a garage remote, rain-sensing wipers, backup sensors, and an eight-speaker stereo. Other kit includes a 12-inch touchscreen, power-adjustable pedals, navigation, dual-zone A/C, a power passenger seat, heated/ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. Outside, you get LED headlights and fog lights, power telescoping/folding side mirrors, and a power-sliding rear window.
King Ranch gets lane departure warning, lane keeping alert, adaptive cruise control, wireless phone charging, upfitter switches, an 18-speaker stereo, power running boards, trailer backup guidance, on-board scales, and a tailgate assist step/handle.
Platinum brings chrome door handles, full body-colour bumpers, and LED projector headlights.
Limited gets a twin-panel sunroof, a suede headliner, blue/slate upholstery, satin aluminum exterior trim, and 20-inch wheels.
Key Options
XL trim offers a driver assist package.
An FX4 off-road pack adds all-terrain tires, hill descent control, better shocks, and skid plates. The Tremor package is more aggressive, with tougher tires, a locking rear diff and a limited-slip front diff, upgraded shocks, skid plates, rock crawl and trail control drive modes, and a variety of other kit.
A towing tech bundle brings lane keeping assist, and trailer backup assist and reverse guidance.
Fuel Economy
Natural Resources Canada doesn’t require fuel consumption ratings for heavy-duty trucks.
Competition
The F-250’s competitors include the GMC Sierra 2500, Ram 2500, and Chevrolet Silverado 2500.
