History/Overview
The F-250 is the entry point to Ford's range of Super Duty heavy-duty pickup trucks. It was redesigned into a new generation for the 2020 model year.
Available Trims
Ford offers the F-250 in XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims. Engines are all V8s. There are 6.2- and 7.3L gas powerplants, and a 6.7L turbodiesel. The 6.2L uses a 6-speed automatic, while the other engines come with a 10-speed.
Standard Features
Ford kits the F-250 with fuel tanks ranging from 109L to 183L, depending on engine choice and wheelbase. The diesel also comes with engine exhaust braking.
Other standard items are 17-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, a supplemental cab heater (diesel models), a 2.3-inch productivity screen, map lights, automatic high beams, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, a 4-speaker stereo, Sync infotainment, vinyl upholstery, manual seat adjustments, and tire pressure monitoring.
XLT adds a trailer brake controller, 18-inch aluminum wheels, cruise control, carpeted floors, a 4.2-inch productivity screen, 110-volt power outlets, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning with automatic braking, lane keeping alert, an upgraded stereo, Sync 3 infotainment, heated side mirrors, a power-locking tailgate,
Lariat trim brings dual-zone automatic climate control, fog lights, the 7.3L engine, a B&O stereo, heated/ventilated front seats, heated rear seats (crew cab models), a power sliding rear window, running boards, LED box lighting, and power-folding side mirrors.
King Ranch's additions are navigation, leather seating, lighted running boards, LED fog lights, LED headlights, remote tailgate release, trailer reverse guidance, and an LED centre brake light.
Platinum gains adaptive cruise control, adaptive front steering, power running boards, and a tailgate step with tailgate assist.
Limited comes standard with the diesel engine and 10-speed transmission, a sunroof, a suede headliner, upfitter switches, and satin aluminum chrome outside door handles.
Key Options
An XL value package adds cruise control and chrome bumpers and wheel covers.
XLT offers a trailer tow package, an FX4 off-road group, and an XLT premium package that includes aluminum wheels, fog lights, an 8-way power/heated driver's seat, a 2-way power front passenger seat, backup sensors, and power-adjustable pedals.
A King Ranch Ultimate package brings adaptive cruise, a dual-panel sunroof, multi-contour front seats, and a tailgate step with tailgate assist.
Platinum offers a Tremor off-road package.
Fuel Economy
Natural Resources Canada classes the F-250 as a commercial vehicle, and doesn't require fuel consumption estimates.
Competition
The F-250 competes with the Ram 2500, GM's Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD, and the Nissan Titan XD.
