Ford's F-150 is literally the most popular vehicle in Canada thanks to its combination of capability, refinement and a wide range of available engines.
But for buyers with greater demands of their truck, Ford offers a range of Super Duty trucks that begins with the one you're reading about here, the F-250.
There are no major changes to the F-250 for 2019; Ford completely redesigned the Super Duty in 2017 and last year added a new upscale Limited trim.
Once again, then, the F-250 can be had with a 6.2L gas V8 that makes 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque, while the option is a 6.7L turbodiesel good for 450 hp and a wild 935 lb-ft. Both engines come matched with a six-speed automatic transmission, and both two- and four-wheel drivetrains are available.
Configuration options include a regular cab with two seats, and SuperCab and Crew Cab bodies that add rear seats and decent and outrageous legroom, respectively. Ford also offers you the choice between 6.75- and eight-foot cargo boxes.
With the F-250, Ford competes against the 2500 grades of the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra and Ram pickup, as well as the Nissan Titan XD.
There's a wide range of trims here, starting with XL and moving through XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited.
The basic XL cabin comes fitted with vinyl seats and floor, AM/FM radio and a tilt-and-telescopic steering column. Niceties like power windows, locks and mirrors are all optional.
XLT brings a better infotainment system with voice recognition and satellite radio all accessed through a 4.2-inch screen. Cloth streets are standard, along with those power accessories and cruise control. Options include a driver assistance group that adds automatic high beam headlights, lane keeping alert and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Lariat covers the seats in leather and adds 10-way power adjustments, an 8.0-inch infotainment display and dual-zone climate control.
King Ranch gets nicer leather with heating, plus rear heated seats in the Crew Cab.
Get to the top of the range in Platinum and Limited and you've got a truck with massaging front seats and power side steps.
Perhaps even more important than all those comforts and conveniences are the F-250's capabilities, like a maximum tow rating of 8,455 kg and a payload of 1,909 kg.
Because the F-250 is considered a commercial vehicle, Natural Resources Canada doesn't require Ford to publish fuel consumption estimates for this truck.
