Ford's largest SUV model moves into 2017 with some trim changes, including a new optional Limited Appearance Package and a continuously controlled damping suspension that's now standard in Platinum trim.
The basic package stays the same, though, so Expedition buyers get a handsome large, eight-seat SUV powered by a 3.5L "EcoBoost" turbocharged V6 that makes 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. That engine is matched with a six-speed automatic transmission and, in Canada, standard four-wheel drive.

Fuel consumption estimates are 15.9/12.0 L/100 km (city/highway).
Expedition competes against a pretty small field of vehicles. Its main rivals are GM's Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon twins, but in its upper trim levels, you could make a case for cross-shopping this truck against big European utilities like the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class, Audi Q7 and Land Rover Range Rover.
The 2017 Expedition range starts with the $53,699 XLT model. Standard interior features include cloth seating, power driver's seat, second-row 40/20/40 split-folding bench seat, 60/40 split-folding third-row seat, air conditioning with manual climate control, rear auxiliary climate control, satellite radio, audio auxiliary input, Sync infotainment, overhead console with sunglasses holder and conversation mirror, large front floor console, nine cupholders, power door windows and rear-quarter windows, carpeted floor and floor mats, illuminated entry, power-adjustable pedals, 4.2-inch gauge cluster information display, auto-dimming rearview mirror, backup sensing system, tailgate with flip-up glass, cruise control, garage door opener, leather-trimmed shifter and steering wheel and tilt-and-telescopic steering.
Exterior features include body-coloured bumpers and lower fascia, chrome exhaust, LED fog lights, black roof rack side rails and crossbars, capless fuel filling, chrome grille, trailer hitch receiver, 18-inch bright aluminum wheels, solar tinted front windows and privacy tinted rear glass.
Limited ($67,799) trim adds leather-trimmed seats with heat and ventilation for driver and front passenger, memory settings for driver's seat, rain-sensing wipers, pedals and side mirrors, heated second-row outboard seats, power-folding third-row seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, forward parking sensing system, cluster with central speedometer and two information displays, power-adjustable steering column, power tailgate, ambient lighting, push-button start, power-deployable running boards, power-folding side mirrors, sunroof and 20-inch wheels.
Finally, Platinum models come in at $69,799 and adds interior woodgrain trim, blind spot monitoring, chrome luggage rack side rails and satin chrome grille.
