History/Overview
The Ecosport subcompact crossover is Ford’s entry-level model. It’s one of the quirkiest vehicles in its class, with awkwardly tall styling that nonetheless allows for generous interior space.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The 2022 Ecosport’s most notable change is the elimination of last year’s front-wheel drive powertrain and the turbocharged three-cylinder Ecoboost engine.
Available Trims
That change leaves a 2.0L four-cylinder as the sole engine for the Ecosport’s S, SE, SES and Titanium trim levels. All come with a six-speed automatic transmission and AWD.
Standard Features
Ecosport S comes with manual air conditioning, auto on/off headlights, six-speaker audio, a 4.2-inch infotainment display, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
SE adds an engine block heater, automatic A/C, a leather-trimmed shifter, a sunroof, passive keyless entry, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, heated front seats and side mirrors, LED signature lighting, fog lights, back up sensors, and a front wiper de-icer.
SES gains a sport-tuned suspension, an auto-dimming mirror, a heated/leather-trimmed steering wheel, ambient lighting, a seven-speaker stereo, navigation, power driver’s seat, 17-inch wheels, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing wipers.
Finally, Titanium trim brings Bang & Olufsen audio, and leather upholstery.
Key Options
An SE convenience package brings navigation, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, ambient lighting, an AC power outlet, and seven-speaker audio.
Fuel Economy
Ford’s fuel consumption estimates for the Ecosport are 10.4/8.0 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
The Ecosport competes for buyers with the Honda HR-V, Kia Seltos, Nissan Qashqai, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Hyundai Kona, Subaru Crosstrek, Mitsubishi RVR, and Toyota Corolla Cross.
