NEW FOR 2008:
- All-new, late-entry 2007 redesign carried over into 2008
The Dodge Sprinter underwent a redesign and entered the marketplace as a late entry for 2007, and so continues into 2008 unchanged. Built by Mercedes-Benz, it is also sold under that nameplate, and in the U.S., as a Freightliner.
Primarily a commercial vehicle, the Sprinter is sold in cargo van, passenger van and chassis cab configuration. Two wheelbases are available; passenger vans come in two body lengths and standard or high roof, while cargo vans have three body lengths and also offer a “mega” roof height. All models use a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel, mated to a five-speed automatic with manual mode. The passenger van is a 2500 designation; the cargo van is 2500 or 3500; and the chassis cab is 3500.
Features on the 2500 Passenger Van include 16-inch steel wheels, electronic stability program, air conditioning, auxiliary electric heater, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, rear window defroster, sliding passenger-side door, hinged rear doors with magnetic catch, rubber flooring, power locks with keyless entry, heated mirrors, CD stereo, vinyl seats, 12-passenger seating, tilt and telescopic wheel, and power front windows.
Available optional features include premium seats, backup alarm, six-CD stereo, electric skylight, cruise control, trailer tow package and heated windshield.
