The Dodge Sprinter is all-new for 2007; it now comes in three body lengths on two wheelbases, with a choice of three interior roof heights. The new model is larger overall than the vehicle it replaces.
Other new features include standard power windows and locks, halogen headlamps, 16-inch wheels, tilt- and height-adjustable steering well, and CD stereo.
Primarily a commercial vehicle sold in cargo van, passenger van and chassis cab configuration, the Sprinter has made some inroads into the full-size van market also occupied by the Ford E-Series van and Chevrolet Express, and is becoming popular as a camper van conversion. It is built by Mercedes-Benz and also appears under that nameplate, as well as Freightliner.
The Sprinter uses a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel, mated to a five-speed automatic with Auto/Stick manual mode.
The new tall Mega-Roof available on 3500 models features a roof made of fibreglass-reinforced plastic, with available fixed or opening glass skylights, or transparent plastic skylight.
Available standard or optional features include adaptive electronic stability program, Cargo Protection load-securing and lashing rail system, parking assist system, bi-Xenon headlamps, Add-Light with cornering light function, integrated wide-angle mirrors, rain and light sensor, rear-window heating and wash/wipe system, quick-release seats, six-CD stereo, hands-free telephone system, standard and roof-mounted air conditioning systems, and electric heater booster.
