Having made its Canadian debut in 2004, the Dodge Sprinter is virtually unchanged for 2005.
Although it’s primarily a commercial vehicle – it’s also sold by Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner under their brand names – the Sprinter is making inroads into the full-size van market that Dodge abandoned when it discontinued the Ram Van, and competes in the people-mover category with the Ford E-Series van and Chevrolet Express. The Sprinter is available in three wheelbase lengths and in a standard or “high roof” height. The passenger van has seating for up to ten people.
Standard features on all Sprinters include a 2.7-litre, five-cylinder turbo diesel engine, electronic stability program, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, air conditioning, AM/FM/cassette, and manual mirrors. Several options and packages are available, including back-up alarm, fog lamps, CD player and cruise control.
The passenger van includes rear-seat cup holders, rear window defroster, power heated mirrors, and dual-hinged rear doors.
The Sprinter is built in Dusseldorf, Germany; the cargo van is built in Gaffney, South Carolina.
