Dodge's Challenger muscle car gets a styling upgrade for 2015 that, ironically, includes a new interior inspired by the 1971 Challenger. It includes a customizable in-cluster display, driver-centric dash, redesigned steering wheel, and Uconnect multimedia centre. Outside, there's a new split grille, LED halo lights and LED taillights that echo the grille's design.
Engine choices include a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 (305 hp/268 lb-ft of torque), 5.7-litre Hemi V8 (372 hp/400 lb-ft, with automatic transmission, and 375 hp/410 lb-ft with available manual gearbox), a 6.4-litre Hemi (485 hp/475 lb-ft), and a 6.2-litre supercharged Hemi good for a massive 707 hp and 650 lb-ft. An eight-speed automatic is standard with all engines, and V8-powered cars can be optioned with a six-speed manual transmission.
Trim levels include SXT, SXT Plus, R/T, Scat Pack, SRT 392, and SRT Hellcat.
SXT models come with the V6 engine and eight-speed automatic, gauge cluster with seven-inch customizable display, 12-volt power outlet, dual-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dark brushed interior accents, front floor console with armrest, leather-wrapped shifter and steering wheel, floor mats, Uconnect 5.0 with auxiliary input, SD card slot, USB port, Bluetooth handsfree and streaming audio and six-speaker stereo, steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls, power windows with one-touch down, 60/40 split folding rear seat, low-back cloth front bucket seats, 10-way power driver's seat with four-way lumbar, automatic headlights, body-colour side mirrors, fascia and door handles, bright fuel filler door, bright dual exhaust tips, LED taillights, power heated side mirrors, satin chrome grille, 18-inch aluminum wheels, intelligent keyless entry, tire pressure monitoring display, rear stabilizer bar, heavy-duty engine cooling, and a 195 mm rear axle with 2.62 ratio.
SXT Plus trim adds a 3.07 axle ratio, bright pedals, LED foglights, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated leather front seats, Uconnect 8.4, satellite radio, 276-watt stereo amplifier, rear park assist, backup camera, power-adjustable steering column, rear body-colour spoiler, ?hectic? mesh interior accents, garage door opener, and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels.
R/T trim uses the Hemi V8. Interior equipment builds on the SXT Plus, and adds HID headlights, remote start, 230-mm rear axle, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross path detection.
Scat Pack models drop some of the R/T's convenience items (they can be added back as options), and build in a 3.90 rear axle ratio with anti-spin, a 220-amp alternator, active exhaust, black brake calipers, cloth bucket seats, Dodge performance pages, severe-duty engine cooling, high-performance suspension, manual-adjustable steering column, black rear spoiler, tire service kit (replaces compact spare tire), and 20-inch aluminum wheels.
SRT 392 trim builds on R/T trim (it includes the niceties deleted from the Scat Pack's standard kit list) and adds the 6.4-litre engine, 20-inch hyper black forged aluminum wheels, six-piston Brembo brakes with red calipers and 15.4-inch front rotors, functional hood scoop, SRT performance pages, 230-mm rear axle with 3.90 ratio, and adaptive damping.
Finally, SRT Hellcat trim comes with the 6.2-litre supercharged engine, 20-inch matte black forged aluminum wheels, unique black rear spoiler with SRT logo, black front chin spoiler and fuel filler door, dark radar red and dark engine-turned interior accents, 3.70 rear axle ratio, air catcher inlet port, dual air extractors in hood, large front air splitter, competition suspension, automatic high-beam control and rain-sensing wipers.
