2022 Chrysler Grand Caravan

History/Overview

For 2022, the Chrysler Grand Caravan enters its second model year as a replacement for a former Dodge minivan sold under the same nameplate. Based on the upscale Pacifica model, the Grand Caravan is Chrysler’s appeal to budget-oriented minivan shoppers.

What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year

This year, the Grand Caravan gains some desirable standard features, which we’ve listed below, and Chrysler has upgraded the van’s standard infotainment system to a new Uconnect 5 system. Also, last year’s base SE trim is gone, leaving SXT as the sole offering.

Available Trims

The Grand Caravan’s remaining SXT configuration uses a 3.6L V6 engine, front-wheel drive, and a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Standard Features

The Grand Caravan’s new standard features are satellite radio, active noise cancellation, Stow ‘n Go second-row seats, dual power sliding doors and tailgate, heated front seats and steering wheel, remote engine start, a security alarm, and an inflatable spare tire kit. Also new is an air filtration system that Chrysler says filters out 95 per cent of particulate matter, aerosols, and droplets.

Items carried forward from last year’s model are 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, passive keyless entry, 7.0-inch touchscreen controls, six-speaker audio, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a power driver’s seat, and three-zone A/C.

Key Options

A SafetyTec option package bundles a 10.1-inch touchscreen with blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, navigation, rear park assist, and extra satellite radio content.

Fuel Economy

Chrysler’s fuel consumption estimates for the Grand Caravan are 12.4/8.4 L/100 km (city/highway).

Competition

The Grand Caravan is one of four minivans left in the marketplace, the others being the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, and Kia Carnival.
