History/Overview
The 2021 Chrysler Grand Caravan is a new minivan model based on the existing Pacifica. It becomes the entry point for Chrysler’s minivan lineup, replacing the aged Dodge Grand Caravan.
Available Trims
Chrysler offers the Grand Caravan in SE and SXT trim levels. Both are front-wheel drivers with a 3.6L V6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission.
Standard Features
SE trim’s exterior and mechanical highlights are 17-inch steel wheels with covers, black door handles, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, tire pressure monitoring, and passive keyless entry. Inside, SE trim has a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, a six-speaker stereo, a 3.5-inch driver info display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, power windows, dual-zone manual A/C, and third-row seats that fold flat with the floor.
SXT adds 17-inch alloy wheels, auto on/off headlights, touring suspension, body-coloured door handles, a 12-way power driver’s seat, in-floor second-row storage, and three-zone manual A/C.
Key Options
In both trims, a SafetyTec option group bundles forward collision detection with automatic braking, blind spot monitoring with cross traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.
SXT offers a cold weather package of heated front seats, a heated/leather-trimmed steering wheel, and remote engine start.
A power package bundles power sliding side doors with a power tailgate and passive keyless entry.
Fuel Economy
Chysler’s fuel consumption estimates are 12.4/8.4 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
With the Dodge brand bowing out of the minivan segment, Chrysler is one of four automakers remaining in this field. The Grand Caravan’s competitors are the Honda Odyssey, Kia’s Sedona, and the Toyota Sienna.
