For 2007, the Chrysler Crossfire continues in coupe and convertible configuration, but the high-performance turbocharged SRT6 line has been dropped. New exterior colours are Iridium Bright Silver and Inferno Red.
Based on the Mercedes SLK, the Crossfire uses a 3.2-litre V6 mated to a six-speed manual transmission or optional five-speed automatic.
The coupe starts as the base Crossfire, and includes staggered-size aluminum wheels (18- and 19-inch), cloth-faced seats, CD player with four speakers, leather-wrapped wheel, tire pressure monitoring system, dual-zone climate control, power locks and windows, cruise control, variable intermittent wipers, black grille, body-coloured louvres, power mirrors, rear speed-sensitive spoiler, and body-colour windshield surround.
The Limited adds stainless steel door sills, floor mats, garage door opener, leather seats with eight-way power driver and four-way power passenger adjustment, premium stereo, bright exhaust tips, fog lamps, gray grille, satin silver louvres and windshield surround, heated mirrors and heated washer nozzles.
The roadster comes as the Limited and includes dual-zone climate control, heated mirrors, locking centre console, heated leather seats, CD with six speakers, leather-wrapped wheel, tire pressure monitoring system, fog lamps and touring suspension.
Always a low-production vehicle, the Crossfire is beautifully styled, but it’s a tight fit inside, and the coupe’s fastback styling makes for poor visibility. The first car to be built as a result of the merger of Daimler and Chrysler, its Mercedes heritage is obvious, from its sharp handling to several of its components; it may have been around for a long time, but it’s still capable of turning heads.
