NEW FOR 2015:
- All-new model.
The longest-running nameplate in the auto business enters its 80th consecutive year in production completely renewed. The Suburban, Chevrolet’s largest sport utility vehicle rides on an entirely new platform shared in common with the Chevrolet Silverado that debuted last year.
Although the Suburban retains its ladder frame and solid rear axle, the latest model is the most refined and technologically advanced Suburban to date. New technologies such as direct fuel injection and lightweight aluminum body panels allow it to consume less fuel, while active safety features such as collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, and a safety seat that vibrates to alert the driver of a potential accident help keep the occupants safe. For the first time, the Suburban will also feature Magnetic Ride Control for improved ride comfort.
But let’s not forget about the passengers. The latest infotainment tech is also on board, including wireless phone charging, 4G LTE internet, Apple Car Play, and more than a dozen power points. Comfort, long a Suburban strong suit, continues with a more luxurious cabin that’s trimmed in premium materials.
Capable as ever, the Suburban is offered in seven, eight, and nine-passenger variations, with two or four-wheel drive, depending on trim level. Unlike previous generations, the latest version is only offered in half-ton (1500) guise, powered by the latest 5.3-litre small-block V8 engine which is mated to a six-speed automatic.
