History/Overview
In 2020, Chevrolet introduced the fourth generation of its Silverado heavy-duty pickup truck line, including the top consumer-grade version, the 3500HD, which builds on the entry-grade 2500HD and adds more capability in terms of payload and towing capacity.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
There are no changes to the Silverado 3500HD for 2022.
Available Trims
The Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD trim levels include Work Truck (WT), LT, LTZ, and High Country. Depending on trim, you can choose regular, double or crew cab body styles, and short and long cargo beds. A gas V8 and a six-speed automatic transmission are standard; a turbodiesel V8 and 10-speed transmission are optional, and two- and four-wheel drive are available.
Standard Features
WT comes with 18-inch steel wheels, black bumpers/exterior trim, tailgate lock, trailer hitch receiver/wiring, TPMS, and hitch guidance. Inside, there’s a 12-volt outlet, driver info display, colour infotainment screen, tilt steering, power door locks/windows, rear seat reminder, and vinyl seats.
LT models add power side mirrors, alloy wheels, body-colour door handles, carpeted floors, cruise control, keyless entry, and cloth upholstery.
LTZ gains LED exterior lighting, stainless steel trim, power-folding/auto-dimming mirrors, 120-volt outlets, dual-zone A/C, heated seats/steering wheel, 8.0-inch infotainment, hitch-view camera, passive keyless, tilt-and-telescopic steering, rear window defrost, remote start, leather upholstery, and satellite radio.
High Country’s additions include 20-inch wheels, chrome side steps, body-colour bumpers, LED cargo lighting with camera, power tailgate/sliding rear window, 8.0-inch driver info display, navigation, front/rear park assist, 360-degree cameras, blind spot monitor, lane change alert, rear cross-traffic alert, ventilated front/heated rear seats, and wireless phone charging.
Key Options
In LT, a convenience package adds a power driver’s seat, passive keyless, rear window defrost, telescopic/heated steering wheel, and LED fog lights. LT True North option brings front and rear park assist, blind spot monitor, lane change alert, and rear cross-traffic warning.
A Z71 group brings off-road upgrades, and there’s a safety package, too.
The LTZ premium bundle gets a power rear window, a rear camera mirror, forward collision mitigation, automatic high beams, navigation, and 20-inch wheels.
High Country can add a tech package with the camera-based mirror and a head-up display. A safety pack adds collision mitigation, automatic high beams, and lane departure warning; a deluxe package also adds surround-view cameras, and fifth-wheel towing prep
Fuel economy
According to Natural Resources Canada, the Silverado 3500 is a commercial vehicle, so Chevrolet doesn’t have to publish fuel consumption estimates.
Competition
The Chevrolet Silverado 3500 competes with the Ford F-350, GMC Sierra 3500, and Ram 3500.
