History/Overview
The Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD offers a middle step for buyers needing more capability and durability than light-duty trucks offer, but aren't yet ready for the harsher ride and other compromises of the 3500 HD or larger commercial trucks. It can handle much greater towing and payload than a 1500, and is designed to spend more of its time doing so. This generation of the truck was launched just a year ago, but Chevrolet has been building trucks for a century.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
Just a year old, there are no significant mechanical or appearance changes. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto join the truck as available options, standard on LT and higher. New towing features including trailer length indicator, jack-knife alert, trailer angle indicator, cargo bed view, and rear side view enhancement are available.
Available Trims
Chevrolet offers the Silverado 2500 in WT, Custom, LT, LTZ, and High Country trims, with two and four-wheel drive available on most trims (4x4 standard on High Country). Regular Cab is available as WT and LT, Double Cab in all but High Country, and all offered with Crew Cab. A 6.6L gas V8 making 401 hp and 464 lb-ft is standard with a six-speed auto. The other engine is a 6.6L Duramax diesel with 445 hp, 910 lb-ft, and a 10-speed auto.
