The 2013 Chevrolet Malibu was received about as warmly as the 2012 Honda Civic, with vicious criticism and many fingers pointing at General Motors on a mediocre effort. Instead of waiting for a full model cycle before giving the Malibu a much needed update, the 2014 model receives a wide variety of improvements to increase fuel mileage, offer better comfort, create a more attractive front end design, crank up performance, and keep occupants safe. It still may not be as pretty as its competitors - such as the Ford Fusion or Honda Accord - but the under the skin upgrades give the Malibu the modernization it deserves.
The Malibu comes with a choice of two engines: a base 2.5L four-cylinder with stop-start and a 2.0 turbocharged four-cylinder. A six-speed automatic is the sole transmission on offer. Malibu is offered in LS, 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, 1LZ, and 2LZ trims (preliminary).
