Chevrolet's big Impala sedan gets a bit more high-tech for 2016 with the addition of wireless charging and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
Those updates go along with a few trim changes: an optional sueded cloth upholstery has been replaced by leather in LT models, LTZ trim gains an optional Midnight Edition package, and the LTZ is now only available with the V6 engine.
That V6 is a 3.6L that makes 305 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque; it's the option next to a 2.5L four-cylinder that comes standard in lower trims and makes 196 hp and 186 lb-ft. Both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel consumption ratings are 10.6/7.5 L/100 km (city/highway) for four-cylinder models, and 12.5/8.2 for the V6.
Prices start at $29,295 for the LS trim and range up to $40,495 for the top-end LTZ trim.
Standard equipment includes the OnStar communication and assistance system, air conditioning, cruise control, keyless entry, tilt-and-telescopic steering, power trunk release, power windows, 18-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, cloth seats, eight-way power driver's seat, front passenger seat with power height adjustment, six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a USB stereo input.
The popular LT trim adds niceties like aluminum wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, covered front console storage, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, front passenger seat lumbar adjustment, fore-and-aft adjustable front headrests, premium cloth/leatherette upholstery, Bluetooth wireless audio streaming, motorized touchscreen with hidden storage, and a total of three USB inputs.
