History/Overview
In the mid-2000s, Chevrolet replaced its Blazer compact SUV with the Equinox, a similarly sized vehicle that traded the Blazer’s truck-based platform for car-based underpinnings. The 2018 model year saw the Equinox enter its third generation, which was refreshed last year into the car you’re reading about here.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The Equinox’s only change for 2023 is an extra 5 horsepower from its engine, which boasts a new total of 175 hp.
Available Trims
Chevrolet offers the Equinox in LS, LT, RS, and Premier trims. In all, power is from a 1.5L turbo four-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission; front- and all-wheel drive are available, depending on trim.
Standard Features
LS comes dressed with 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, LED headlights, and passive keyless entry. Inside, there’s a 7.0-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, and manual A/C.
Equinox’s standard safety package comprises forward collision mitigation, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.
LT adds a power driver’s seat with lumbar, an upgraded driver info display, remote rear seat release levers, and LED daytime running lights.
RS gains 19-inch wheels, LED taillights, a power tailgate, front and rear park assist, dual-zone A/C, and a power tailgate.
Premier brings wireless phone charging, a heated steering wheel, 18-inch wheels, fog lights, hands-free tailgate, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, an auto-dimming interior mirror, and an integrated garage remote.
Key Options
An LS convenience pack brings a power driver’s seat; you can also add rear park assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
In LT, a True North pack adds a panoramic roof, and dual-zone A/C. A confidence and convenience package brings a power tailgate and front and rear park assist.
The RS plus package gains a panoramic roof, adaptive cruise, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen.
In Premier, the available option packages add a panoramic roof, navigation, heated rear seats, a ventilated driver’s seat, adaptive cruise, automated park assist, surround vision, and an upgraded stereo.
Fuel Economy
Chevrolet’s fuel consumption estimates for the Equinox are 8.9/7.7 L/100 km (city/highway) for FWD models, and 9.9/7.9 L/100 km with AWD.
Competition
