Unsafe Poor handling on free way due to extra powerful powersteering. July 29, 2018 2LT
Overall Score
I bought it from GM dealer with 160 points inspection. I was thinking that it is tires that needs replacement but no its made like this. Although it helps to park easily due to power steering but it scares on highway due to its extra helpful power steering on freeways. Transmission lags a lot to merge and Engine ravs like anything due to small turbo. certainly has less longevity in engine seeing the wear and tear on engine due to raving regularly while merging on freeways. Middle seat is high with pinching seat belt holders. not comfortable at all. there are features like Onstar, Pioneer sound system and good fuel economy on highway but of no use when it comes at the cost of safety.

Issue: On certain vehicles, the inflator for the side curtain airbag could rupture at the inflator weld joint and cause the side curtain airbag to inflate without a crash. Note: This is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2023-520. Safety Risk: A side curtain airbag that inflates without a crash could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the left and/or right-side curtain airbag(s).

Issue: On certain vehicles, the start-stop accumulator in the transmission may be missing bolts. As a result, transmission fluid could leak and eventually cause the transmission to stop working. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. Safety Risk: A transmission fluid leak onto a hot surface can create the risk of a fire. Additionally, a loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the transmission start-stop accumulator. It will be replaced if any bolts are found missing.

Certain models equipped with a tire inflator kit may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 301 – Fuel System Integrity. The company’s internal testing indicates that, under certain conditions in a rollover following a severe rear-impact crash, a sensor attached to the fuel tank may contact the rear floor panel, and possibly cause a fuel leak. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will install a lock-ring on the fuel tank that shields the vapour pressure sensor.

Certain vehicles may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The headlamp lenses in these vehicles are not marked with a three-digit identifier code that provides instructions for properly aiming the headlamps, as required by the standard. Although the headlamps in these vehicles were properly aimed during assembly, if headlamp aim is affected by a crash or other incident, the headlamps may not be properly aimed in servicing. Improperly aimed headlamps may reduce night time forward visibility or increase glare for vehicles ahead, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Owners will be mailed adhesive labels with the correct marking and instructions for applying the label to the headlamp lenses. If owners are not comfortable installing the label themselves, they can take the label to a dealer for installation.

On certain vehicles, the Body Control Module (BCM) wire harness near the foot-operated parking brake may be missing tie-straps that maintain the harness routing. As a result, the wiring could become damaged if were to contact the parking brake assembly, potentially disabling the knee airbag. Failure of the knee airbag to deploy when warranted could increase the risk of injury to the driver in a frontal crash. Correction: Dealers are to add tie straps to secure the BCM wire harness away from the foot-operated parking brake, and a second tie strap to secure the knee-airbag wire harness to the BCM harness.

On certain vehicles, the left-rear or right-rear parking brake cable brackets may not have been properly fastened during the assembly process. If the fastening bolts backed out completely, the parking brake bracket would separate causing the parking brake to fail. If this were to occur, the vehicle could roll away, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the left-rear and right-rear parking brake bracket bolts and, if necessary, tighten the bolts to the correct torque specification.

On certain vehicles, the driver's (frontal) airbag inflator was built with an incorrect part which could cause the inflator to rupture during a deployment. In a crash, this may cause airbag components to separate, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. In some cases, the airbag may not inflate. Failure of the driver airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. On certain vehicles, the passenger side halfshaft could fracture and separate. If this were to occur while the vehicle is being driven, it could result in a loss of motive power. If this were to occur while the vehicle is parked on an incline without the parking brake applied, it could result in unintended vehicle movement. Both situations could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace affected halfshafts. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 2013323. Certain vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 102 - Transmission Control Functions and CMVSS 114 - Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention. The shift cable adjuster may have been damaged at time of assembly and could disengage, causing the transmission to remain in a gear position different from the one indicated in the instrument panel. If the shift cable were to disengage while driving, upon stopping the vehicle, a driver could move the transmission range selector lever to the PARK position and remove the key, without the transmission being in PARK. If the parking brake is not set, the vehicle could roll, potentially resulting in a crash increasing the risk of injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect and install a revised adjuster and clip if necessary.

On certain vehicles, oil spilt as a result of improper engine oil change procedures could contact hot engine or exhaust components, as well as the engine shield, which could cause the shield to ignite and burn. In addition, on vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, continuing to drive with a completely worn clutch may cause hydraulic fluid to be expelled from the clutch housing vent hole. In some instances, the fluid could be burning as it exits the vent hole. If the burning fluid contacts the engine shield, this too could cause the shield to ignite and burn. These issues could cause an engine compartment fire which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will modify the engine shield to prevent fluid from contacting the shield.
