An all-new model for 2010, the Chevrolet Camaro adds a second model to the lineup with the introduction of a new convertible. Changes to the coupe include an eight-horsepower bump on its base 3.6-litre V6, the addition of the Directions and Connections navigation plan to OnStar, and a Head-Up Display added to specific trim lines.
The Camaro coupe and convertible share engines, starting with a 3.6-litre V6, with six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic with manual shift mode. Two 6.2-litre V8 engines are available in the Camaro SS, both of them derived from the Corvette’s LS3 engine: a 400-horsepower L99 with a six-speed automatic, and a 426-horsepower LS3 with a six-speed manual. The L99 engine includes Active Fuel Management, which shuts off half the cylinders under light load for improved fuel economy.
The V6 is available in LS, 1LT and 2LT trim lines, while the SS comes in 1SS or 2SS. The convertible comes in 1LT, 2LT and the SS trim lines.
Features on the LS include 18-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, XM satellite radio, exterior temperature display, cruise control, power locks with keyless entry, power-reclining sport bucket seats, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, tire pressure monitoring system, power windows with express up/down, variable intermittent wipers, and OnStar.
The 1LT adds 18-inch alloy wheels, power sunroof, and fog lamps. The convertible adds a power cloth roof.
The 2LT adds 19-inch alloy wheels, Boston Acoustics premium stereo, Bluetooth connectivity, Head-Up Display, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, USB port, cargo net, multifunction display, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, heated mirrors with driver’s side auto-dimming, heated leather seats, and garage door opener. The convertible adds a folding one-piece tonneau cover.
