Issue: On a small number of vehicles, the recall repairs completed by a General Motors dealer during recall N212345944 (Transport Canada recall no. 2021-524) may not have been done correctly. As a result, a second repair is required. On a small number of vehicles, the high-voltage battery could overheat when it is charged to over 90% of its capacity. As a result, the battery could create smoke or heat, which can melt or damage the battery and nearby parts. Safety Risk: A battery that overheats can create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to install an advanced diagnostic software that will monitor the high-voltage battery and warn you if it detects a problem. If you see this warning, you should contact a dealership to arrange replacement of the affected high-voltage battery module. Issue: The portable charging cord included with certain vehicles could have incorrect software. As a result, if the ground connection is lost during charging, the portable charging cord may not stop charging the vehicle. Safety Risk: A charging cord that isn't grounded could create a risk of injury from an electric shock. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to inspect the portable charging cord, and replace it if necessary. General Motors recommends not to use the portable charging cord until it has been inspected.

As a result, the battery could create smoke or heat, which can melt or damage the battery and nearby parts. Safety Risk: A battery that overheats can create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: General Motors will notify owners by mail and replace defective battery modules. Until replacement battery modules are available, General Motors recommends the following: 1. Enable "Target Charge Level" using the vehicle's infotainment centre to limit the state of charge to 90%. If you are unable to make these changes, or do not feel comfortable making them, you should visit a dealer to have these adjustments completed. 2. Charge your vehicle more frequently and avoid depleting the battery below approximately 113 km (70 miles) of remaining range, where possible. 3. Out of an abundance of caution, park your vehicle outside immediately after charging and not leave vehicle charging indoors overnight. Issue: A small number of vehicles may be missing a bolt that secures the driver-front airbag to the steering wheel, or the bolt may not be properly tightened. As a result, the airbag may not open and inflate properly in a crash. Safety Risk: An airbag that does not inflate properly could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Action: General Motors will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the driver-front airbag assembly. The bolts will be tightened or replaced, as required. If the bolts can't be properly tightened, the airbag assembly will be replaced.
