History/Overview
In 2019, Chevrolet revived the Blazer name for this mid-size crossover; it had last been used on a compact SUV whose long production run ended in 2005.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the Blazer gets a few minor updates. LT and RS trims can be optioned with a two-tone roof treatment, and Premier trim gets some new styling cues. Premier also adds a new enhanced convenience package, and you can option your 2.0L turbo Blazer with a trailering package for the first time.
Available Trims
Chevrolet offers the Blazer in LT, True North, RS, and Premier trim levels. LT and True North start with a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine; a 3.6L V6 is optional in True North and standard in RS and Premier. Both engines are bolted to a nine-speed transmission; AWD is standard in True North and up, and optional in LT.
Standard Features
LT starts with 18-inch wheels, LED taillights, six-speaker audio, power driver’s seat, 8.0-inch touchscreen, and dual-zone A/C.
Also included is the Chevrolet safety assist suite of forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection, following distance indicator, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.
True North adds auto-dimming side mirrors, power tailgate, power front passenger seat, auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, and leather upholstery.
RS gains 20-inch wheels, hands-free tailgate, a 120-volt power outlet, 8.0-inch driver info display, ambient lighting, and navigation.
Premier brings power steering column adjustments and ventilated front seats.
Key Options
A True North Plus package adds navigation, upgraded audio, surround vision cameras, digital rearview mirror, and a 120-volt power outlet.
An LT Plus pack adds a power tailgate, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change alert, rear park assist, and auto-dimming mirrors.
You can add heated rear seats to Premier with a convenience plus package. RS and Premier can also add a safety plus package with surround vision, digital mirror, adaptive cruise, enhanced collision mitigation, LED headlights, safety alert seat, and wireless phone charging.
Fuel Economy
According to Natural Resources Canada, the Blazer’s estimated fuel consumption is 10.6/8.0 L/100 km (city/highway) with the 2.0L and FWD, and 10.8/8.7 with AWD. V6/AWD models are rated for 12.6/9.2 L/100 km.
Competition
The Chevrolet Blazer competes in the mid-size crossover class, where you can cross-shop it with the Toyota Venza, Ford Edge, Honda Passport, Subaru Outback, Hyundai Santa Fe, and VW Atlas Cross Sport.
