Following last year's addition of the twin-turbo V6-powered Vsport model, the XTS moves into 2015 with trim changes, and new standard and optional features.
Two engines are available, both of them 3.6L V6s: things start with a naturally-aspirated version making 304 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque used in Standard, Luxury, Premium, and Platinum trims. The Vsport is a stand-alone trim that is the only one to get the turbo V6, which cranks out 410 hp and 369 lb-ft. Both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission, and the Vsport gets standard AWD, where it's an option in cars with the non-turbo motor.
'Standard' trim comes, um, standard with OnStar, rear park assist, anti-theft system, remote start, Brembo-branded brakes, front-wheel drive, engine block heater, dual-exhaust with hidden tailpipes, hydraulic power steering, magnetic ride control suspension with automatic rear levelling, steering wheel-mounted transmission shift controls, automatic HID headlights, cornering lights, illuminated door handles, LED taillights, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal repeaters, 19-inch wheels and tires, tire inflator kit (a compact spare is an option), variable intermittent wipers, automatic dual-zone climate control, cruise control, carpeted floor mats, driver information centre, 4.2-inch LCD gauge cluster display, tire pressure monitoring, intelligent keyless entry, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather-and-wood-trimmed steering wheel, power tilt-and-telescopic steering column, universal garage door opener, genuine wood trim, leather upholstery, eight-way power front seats with power lumbar and manual thigh supports, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, CUE infotainment system, and eight-speaker stereo with Bluetooth, USB and auxiliary inputs and satellite radio.
Luxury trim adds front and rear park assist, dual-exhaust with outlets integrated into the rear fascia, auto-dimming driver's side mirror, cargo convenience net, ambient lighting, driver's seat memory, heated steering wheel, wood trim on instrument panel and doors, heated rear seats, and navigation.
AWD models add an electronic limited slip rear differential.
Premium trim adds lane keep assist, forward collision alert, safety alert seat, side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive (steerable) and auto-levelling headlights with automatic high beam function,tri-zone climate control, 12.3-inch full-LCD gauge cluster, head-up display, and a 110-volt power outlet.
AWD models add an electronic limited slip rear differential, and trades keep departure assist for lane departure warning.
Platinum trim comes with autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, front and rear automatic braking, silver-painted brake calipers, panoramic sunroof, 20-inch wheels, premium carpeted floor mats, leather-wrapped door inserts and instrument panel, suede headliner, lighted sill plates, power rear window sunshade and manual rear side window shades, and full leather front seats.
