History/Overview
Cadillac introduced the XT4 in 2019 as its first-ever subcompact crossover model, slotting in below the compact XT5. Despite its small size and relatively affordable price, the XT4 is an important model for Cadillac, which is trying to attract younger buyers; the subcompact luxury crossover category is a fast-growing segment that will (probably) eventually replace small sedans as the upscale vehicle entry point.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2022, the Cadillac XT4 shuffles a few features around in its available option packages.
Available Trims
Cadillac offers the XT4 in Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport trims. The latter two both build on Luxury with similar – but not identical – lists of additional equipment. All XT4 models are powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged engine and a nine-speed transmission. Luxury comes with either FWD or AWD; AWD is standard in upper trims.
Standard Features
XT4 Luxury comes fitted with 18-inch wheels, auto on/off LED headlights, heated front and rear seats and steering wheel, power driver’s seat with lumbar, seven-speaker audio, an 8.0-inch touchscreen, dual-zone A/C, forward collision avoidance, and passive keyless entry.
Premium Luxury and Sport gain power-folding mirrors with driver’s side auto-dimming, hands-free tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, front/rear park assist, auto-dimming rearview mirror, blind spot monitor, lane change alert, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Key Options
Sport and Premium Luxury options include a comfort and convenience package (ventilated front seats with massage, power front passenger seat (Premium Luxury only), and leather upholstery); a driver assist package (adaptive cruise, and reverse automatic braking); a sun and sound pack (navigation, 13-speaker audio, and a sunroof); an enhanced visibility package (rear pedestrian alert, digital rearview mirror, surround vision, and automatic park assist); and a tech pack (digital gauges, head-up display, power steering column, and (in Premium Luxury only) front cornering lights).
All three XT4 trims offer a driver awareness package of lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.
Fuel Economy
Cadillac’s fuel consumption estimates for the XT4 are 10.0/7.8 L/100 km (city/highway) for front-wheel drive models, and 10.9/8.2 L/100 km with AWD.
Competition
The XT4 faces off against the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and X2, Lexus UX, Volvo XC40, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Land Rover Evoque.
