NEW FOR 2009:
- New CTS-V model
Having been redesigned for 2008, the Cadillac CTS is unchanged for 2009. The big news is the addition of the new supercharged CTS-V, which was temporarily discontinued after the 2007 model year.
The regular CTS comes with a choice of two engines, both of them 3.6-litre V6s; the port injection model produces 263 horsepower, while the direct injection version makes 304 horsepower. Both use a six-speed manual that can be optioned to a six-speed automatic. The CTS-V uses a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 with six-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic.
All models base with rear-wheel drive; the V6 models can be optioned with an all-wheel system that normally runs in 40/60 but which automatically transfers up to 100 per cent torque to either axle when necessary. The AWD models use the automatic transmission only.
The two V6 models are similarly equipped, and include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, keyless entry, OnStar with Turn-by-Turn Navigation, chrome-tipped exhaust, LED taillights, heated mirrors, variable intermittent wipers, cruise control, driver information centre, tire pressure monitoring system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather-wrapped wheel with audio controls, cargo net, garage door opener, express up/down windows, eight-way power heated leather seats with driver's side memory, fixed rear seat with pass-through, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, and CD/MP3 stereo with XM satellite radio.
The CTS-V adds 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive Xenon headlamps, remote starter, theft-deterrent alarm, rear parking assist, Brembo performance brakes, limited-slip rear differential, Magnetic Ride Control sport suspension, Xenon fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers, LED accent lighting, power tilt and telescopic wheel, piano black interior finish, leather and suede seats, and CD/DVD/MP3 stereo with 40-GB hard drive and Bose 5.1 Cabin Surround sound system.
Already one of Cadillac's most impressive makeovers, the CTS steps up a notch with the new V version, which can be confidently shopped against high-powered models from German automakers. The V6 models, meanwhile, give buyers a relatively lower buy-in, and operate on regular-grade fuel.
