Buick's big Enclave crossover makes its move into 2016 with minor updates, including OnStar with a 4G LTE hotspot, standard 19-inch wheels, three new colour options, and a new Bronze Edition package that includes a bronze grille and 20-inch chrome wheels with bronze pockets.
Power comes from GM's well-known 3.6L V6 engine, tuned here for 288 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque and paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Front- and all-wheel drivetrains are available.
Natural Resources Canada's fuel consumption ratings are 14.2/9.9 L/100 km (city/highway) with front-wheel drive, and 14.6/10.7 in AWD form.
Among the Enclave's standard luxury items are a heated steering wheel trimmed in leather and wood, and LED cabin accent lighting. On the more practical side comes a standard backup camera, IntelliLink infotainment system with 6.5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, remote engine start, under-floor storage in the cargo area, and power windows with driver and front passenger express up/down.
Convenience trim adds an eight-way power driver's seat with lumbar; Leather trim gets heated front seats and a driver memory function; and Premium trim adds ventilated front seats and a power tilt-and-telescopic steering column.
And, of course, the Enclave incorporates Buick's "QuietTuning" noise attenuation technology, which the brand says makes the cabin quieter than that of the Lexus RX 350.
Standard is the industry's first front centre airbag, conceived to protect the driver and front passenger in far-side impact crashes. Optional safety tech includes side blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision alert, and lane departure warning.
Enclave prices start at $48,935 in FWD Leather trim; AWD Leather models cost $51,935, and AWD Premium trim takes the tag to $56,435.
