Following a minor update for 2013, BMW's rakish X6 crossover is unchanged for 2014, and continues to be available in three different models.
The starting point is the X6 xDrive 35i, powered by a turbocharged 3.0L inline six-cylinder engine making 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque; next up is the xDrive 50i, with a turbocharged 4.4L V8 good for 400 hp and 450 lb-ft. Finally, the X6M is a performance-tuned beast that uses the same 4.4L V8, but cranked up to 547 hp and 500 lb-ft.
35i and 50i models use an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the M gets a six-speed; all three use BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive setup, but the M is modified to favour the rear wheels.
Standard kit in xDrive 35i trim includes automatic air conditioning, steerable headlights, adaptive brake lights that light up according to brake pedal pressure, fog lights, front and rear park assist, backup camera with top-view, rain-sensing wipers, heated side mirrors with electric adjustment, heated windshield washer jets, single chrome exhaust tip, automatic tailgate, autodimming side and rearview mirrors, ambient lighting, compass, heated sport leather-trimmed steering wheel, cargo compartment cover, electric tilt-and-telescopic steering column, heated eight-way power front seats finished in Nevada leather, 10-speaker stereo with auxiliary and USB inputs, titanium-look grille trim, iDrive with 6.5-inch display, and Bluetooth.
50i models add dual-zone air conditioning, anthracite roofliner, rectangular exhaust tip, 8.8-inch iDrive display, and navigation.
The X6M adds customizable drive settings, self-levelling air suspension, double-twin chrome exhaust tips, ski bag, M sport steering wheel, heated rear seats, and Merino leather seating.
