An all-new model for 2008, the BMW X6 completes its line-up with the Canadian introduction of its V8 model.
The X6 is available with two engines: a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder in the xDrive35i, and a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 in the xDrive50i. Both use a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and wheel-mounted shifter paddles, and use the company's proactive all-wheel drive system. The system also includes Dynamic Performance Control, which works in conjunction with the xDrive to feed power when needed and stabilize the vehicle under all degrees of throttle.
Features on the xDrive35i include 19-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, sport-tuned suspension, automatic adaptive bi-xenon headlamps, fog lights, adaptive brake lights, tire pressure warning system, rain-sensing wipers with heated washer jets, heated mirrors, alarm system with interior motion sensor, self-charging keyless fob, Park Distance Control, cruise control, power sunroof, heated multifunction leather sport wheel with power tilt and telescopic, power windows, illuminated vanity mirrors, 60/40 split-folding rear seats, 10-way power heated sport seats in Nevada leather with driver's side memory, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input, BMW Assist, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, and iDrive.
The xDrive50i adds self-levelling rear air suspension, power-folding auto-dimming mirrors, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with compass, garage door opener, and navigation system.
With its coupe-like styling but SUV proportions, the X6 offers a luxury interior and sharp handling; on the down side, the swept-back styling means the rear seat is very tight for tall passengers. Base price is unchanged from the MSRP in 2008.
