NEW FOR 2008:
All-new model
An all-new model in the BMW line-up, the X6 is BMW's newest SUV, and is a derivative of the popular X5 model. BMW calls it a "Sports Activity Coupe", although it definitely has four doors.
The X6 is available with two engines, both with twin turbochargers. The X6 xDrive 35i uses a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder, while the xDrive 50i uses a 4.4-litre V8 engine. Both use a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and wheel-mounted shifter paddles.
Both models feature the company's xDrive proactive all-wheel drive system, and BMW's first use of its new Dynamic Performance Control, which works in conjunction with the xDrive system to feed power when needed and stabilize the vehicle under all degrees of throttle.
Features on the xDrive 35i include 19-inch wheels with run-flat tires, dual-zone automatic climate control, sport-tuned suspension, start/stop button, automatic adaptive Xenon headlights, adaptive brake lights, fog lights, cornering lights, tire pressure warning system, rain-sensing wipers with heated washer jets, heated mirrors, alarm system with interior motion sensor, cruise control, power sunroof, multi-function three-spoke heated leather sport steering wheel with power tilt and telescopic function, cargo cover, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, ten-way power adjustable heated front seats in Nevada leather, CD/MP3 stereo with auxiliary input jack, iDrive with 6.5-inch control display, and Bluetooth hands-free communication system.
The xDrive 50i will be released at a later date.
