The i3 is BMW's small electric car, with the option of a gas engine to charge the battery and give you a longer range. The $45,300 base i3 has a range of up to 160 km. Standard are 19-inch wheels, LED headlights and navigation, as well as heated front seats and the ability to control features of the car like the windows and A/C from your phone. A $2,500 technology package adds a Harmon-Kardon stereo, BMW concierge services and adaptive cruise control with stop and go traffic abilities and pedestrian collision avoidance.
For $49,300, the i3 with Range Extender adds a gas engine that will allow the i3 to drive up to 250 km. After that, you can re-fill the small tank with gas and continue to drive. For $4,600 on both models, the Suite trim comes with leather interior.
There isn't much competition for this small (two-door, with a rear half-door) EV, but look at the Chevrolet Volt for the closest thing. The i3 is still very much a BMW though, with a futuristic and luxurious interior and the driving dynamics you'd expect.
