NEW FOR 2008:
- Limited-edition Alpina B7 discontinued
Following the addition of several new standard features for 2007, the BMW 7 Series is unchanged for 2008. Pricing also remains the same.
The top-of-the-line sedan in the BMW line-up, the 7 Series is available in two wheelbase lengths and three models. The 750i and long-wheelbase 750Li use a 4.8-litre V8, while the 760Li, available only in long-wheelbase, uses a 6.0-litre V12. Both engines mate to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode.
Features on the 750i include 19-inch alloy wheels, heated and ventilated 20-way seats, automatic climate control, keyless start, automatic Xenon headlamps with washers, fog lamps, rain-sensing wipers with heated washers, park distance control, knee airbag, power-folding auto-dimming heated mirrors, self-closing trunk and doors, power sunroof, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel with electric tilt and telescopic, six-CD/MP3 stereo, navigation system and iDrive.
The 750Li adds Adaptive Drive, self-levelling rear suspension, exterior chrome accents, and rear foot wedges.
The 760Li adds active cruise control, night vision, electrically-adjustable rear headrests, rear thorax airbags, rear ventilated 14-way comfort seats with memory, trunk-mounted six-CD system and rear-seat iDrive screen.
Despite its size, the 7 Series has a sports sedan feel, even in the long-wheelbase models, with superb handling and immediate response. The V8 is a strong engine, while the V12 is a true driver's machine. Luxury touches include massaging seats and an available two-bottle refrigerator.
