BMW's big coupe and convertible is carried over for 2016 as the company prepares a refreshed model unveiled at the 2016 Detroit auto show.
As before, the 6 Series comes as a convertible, a true coupe, and as the Gran Coupe, a four-door with a batchback cargo opening and a sleek roofline. Engine choices include a 3.0L inline six-cylinder for the 640i Gran Coupe (320 hp/332 lb-ft of torque), while the 650i coupe, Gran Coupe, and M6 share a 4.4L V8 that makes 445 hp/479 lb-ft in the former, and and 575 hp/502 lb-ft in the latter. All but the M6, also available as a coupe, Gran Coupe, and convertible, use an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the M6 alone gets a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Fuel consumption figures are 12.1/8.1 L/100 km (city/highway) for six-cylinder models, 14.4/9.7 for the 650i coupe, and 15.2/9.8 for 650i versions of the Gran Coupe and convertible. The M6 is a thirstier ride, rated at 17.3/11.5 L/100 km.
Pricing starts at $89,900 for the 640i Gran Coupe, and ranges up to $110,500 for the 650i cabriolet, while the M6 range starts at $125,000.
Standard equipment includes 19-inch wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, LED foglights, electric parking brake, heated windshield washers, front and rear park assist, rain sensing wipers, auto-dimming rearview and side mirrors, intelligent keyless entry, heated steering wheel, dynamic cruise control, power tilt-and-telescopic steering, heated front seats, Dakota leather upholstery and leatherette-trimmed dash, nine-speaker stereo, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, and a 10.2-inch iDrive display.
