For 2011, the BMW 3 Series line-up receives numerous changes, including an exterior refresh that adds such items as new headlights with LED signals, modified front and rear bumpers and air intakes, and new taillights with LED technology.
The 335i sedan, couple and cabriolet models receive a new 3.0-litre engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, which uses a single advanced twin-scroll turbocharger. New 335is coupe and cabriolet models are high-performance with an upgraded version of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre engine. The 335i models also have a standard M Aerodynamic package, M sport trim and seats, and come with a six-speed manual or available seven-speed double-clutch transmission.
The 3 Series comes as a sedan, coupe, cabriolet (convertible) or Touring (wagon) and in rear-wheel or all-wheel drive (called xDrive). The sedan comes as the 323i with 2.5-litre inline six-cylinder; the 328i and 328i xDrive with 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder; the 335i and 335i xDrive with turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder; and the 335d with TwinPower Turbo 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder diesel. The 328i xDrive Touring uses the 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder. All use a six-speed standard transmission or optional six-speed automatic, except for the diesel engine, which uses the six-speed automatic only.
The 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder is used in the 328i Coupe, 328i xDrive Coupe and 328i Cabriolet. The TwinPower Turbo 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder is used in the 335i Coupe, 335i xDrive Coupe and 335i Cabriolet. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder is used in the 335is Coupe and 335is Cabriolet. The 328i and 335i models use a six-speed manual transmission or optional six-speed automatic, while the 335is models use a six-speed manual transmission or optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The M3 sedan, coupe and cabriolet use a 4.0-litre V8 with six-speed manual transmission or optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Features on the 323i sedan include 16-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED brake lights, automatic headlamps, heated mirrors, heated windshield washer jets, rain-sensing wipers, tire pressure monitoring system, active front head restraints, keyless entry, chrome grille with black bars, dynamic cruise control, locking illuminated glovebox, three-spoke leather-wrapped multifunction tilt and telescopic steering wheel, 60/40 split-folding rear seats with pass-through, illuminated vanity mirrors, auto up/down windows, six-way manual “leatherette” seats, CD/MP3 stereo with audio input, and trip computer.
The 328i sedan adds 17-inch alloy wheels, ambience lighting, bi-xenon headlamps, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, power sunroof, USB port, iPod connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, BMW Assist, eight-way power seats, and driver’s side memory.
The 328i xDrive adds headlight washers.
The 328i xDrive Touring is similarly-equipped to the 328i xDrive sedan but adds a panoramic sunroof.
The 335i sedan builds on the 328i sedan and adds 18-inch alloy wheels, sport suspension, adaptive headlamps, chrome grille with chrome bars, heated steering wheel, sport steering wheel, and leather sport seats
The 335i xDrive sedan is similarly equipped, but uses 17-inch alloy wheels and does not have a sport suspension.
The 335d sedan builds on the 328i sedan and adds chrome grille with chrome bars.

The 335i xDrive Coupe is similarly-equipped but uses 17-inch alloy wheels and adds headlamp washers and hill descent control, and does not have a sport suspension.
The 335is Coupe builds on the 335i and adds sport exhaust system, high gloss black mirrors, M Aerodynamics package, Alcantara gearshift boot, aluminum trim, and stainless steel pedals.
Features on the 328i Cabriolet include 17-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, adaptive LED brake lights, adaptive automatic bi-xenon headlamps, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, fog lamps, heated mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, heated windshield washers, tire pressure monitoring system, front knee airbags, rollover protection system, integrated head airbag, keyless entry, power retractable hardtop, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, comfort access, dynamic cruise control, locking illuminated glovebox, multi-function leather-wrapped tilt and telescopic sport heated steering wheel, single-piece folding rear seat, rear-seat comfort entry, eight-way power heated leather seats, CD/MP3 stereo, USB port, iPod connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, BMW Assist and trip computer.
The 335i Cabriolet adds 18-inch alloy wheels, sport suspension, park distance control, alarm system, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, compass, garage door opener, sport seats with adjustable side bolsters and lumbar support, and Harman/Kardon sound system.
The 335is Cabriolet adds sport exhaust system, high gloss black mirrors, M Aerodynamics package, and stainless steel pedals.
Features common to all M3 models include 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, vented and cross-drilled front and rear rotors, M3-specific sport calibrated suspension, automatic adaptive bi-xenon headlamps with washers, adaptive brake lights, rain-sensing wipers with heated washer jets, tire pressure warning system, alarm system with interior motion sensor, keyless entry, M body kit, blue-tinted mirror glass, anthracite roof liner, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, comfort access, cruise control, three-spoke multifunction M steering wheel, 60/40 split-folding rear seat with pass-through and ski bag, power windows, illuminated vanity mirrors, heated eight-way sport seats with driver’s memory, CD/MP3 stereo with Logic7 sound system and auxiliary input, iPod interface, M-specific instrument dials, Bluetooth connectivity, and BMW Assist. The cabriolet adds driver and passenger knee airbags and has a single-folding rear seat with pass-through and transport bag; the coupe adds a lightweight carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic roof; while the sedan adds a power sunroof. Seats on the sedan and coupe are cloth and leather, while the cabriolet’s are sun-reflective leather.
