NEW FOR 2008:
- All-new, redesigned model
Temporarily discontinued in 2007, the Audi TT coupe and roadster are redesigned for the 2008 model year and move into the model's second generation.
Both coupe and roadster are available as the 2.0T, with 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and six-speed "S tronic" automatic transmission; or as the 3.2, with 3.2-litre V6 and a six-speed manual that can be optioned to the six-speed S tronic. The 2.0T is front-wheel drive, while the 3.2 uses Quattro all-wheel drive. Under normal driving conditions it sends 85 per cent of torque to the front axle, but when necessary can transmit up to 100 per cent to either axle.
The new TT is longer and wider than the model it replaces, and is constructed using Audi's "space frame" and aluminum technology. On the coupe, 69 per cent of the car is aluminum, with galvanized steel components located primarily at the rear of the body platform, and steel doors and trunk lid; the roadster is 58 per cent aluminum, reducing overall weight. The torsion beam suspension of the previous model is replaced with a four-link rear suspension. Inside, new features include a large digital speedometer, flat-bottom sports steering wheel and lowered seating position.
Features on the 2.0T include 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, automatic retracting rear spoiler, fog lamps, heated mirrors, variable intermittent wipers, heated leather and Alcantara sport seats with manual adjustment, leather-wrapped wheel with audio controls, brushed aluminum trim, floor mats, express up/down on both windows, cargo cover, driver information centre with trip computer, cruise control, CD/MP3 stereo, side thorax and head airbags, and driver and passenger knee airbags. The Roadster includes a retractable windscreen and manual soft top with glass rear window.
The 2.0T Premium adds rain-sensing wipers, ten-way power front seats, auto-dimming rear-view mirror with compass, garage door opener, and six-CD/MP3 stereo. The Roadster adds a fully automatic soft top.
The 3.2 adds adaptive bi-Xenon headlamps with washers.
Available options, depending on the model, include Magnetic Ride variable damping system, S Line sports appearance package, parking system, Bluetooth hands-free telephone system, navigation system and iPod interface.
