History/Overview
As part of Audi’s lineup of full-size luxury sedans, the S8 delivers loads of comfort and space but throws in a serious helping of performance to live up to the reputation the brand’s “S” cars have earned over the years.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
Audi refreshed the S8 last year, so changes for 2023 are limited to a couple of new features: remote park assist, and a direct TPMS system.
Available Trims
The S8 comes in a single trim and is powered by a turbo 4.0L V8, an eight-speed transmission, and AWD.
Standard Features
Audi fits the S8 with 20-inch wheels, all-wheel steering, air suspension, panoramic roof, auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors, adaptive rain-sensing wipers, passive keyless entry, power door closers, power trunk operation, LED matrix headlights with washers, and LED taillights. Inside, there are front and rear heated seats, ventilated front seats with 22-way adjustments and massage, a heated steering wheel, Valcona leather, rear sunshades, and four-zone A/C.
The infotainment touchscreen gives you access to navigation, satellite radio, and a B&O stereo. There’s also a digital gauge cluster, wireless phone charging, and a smartphone interface.
Every S8 also comes with a suite of driver assists comprising top-view cameras, remote park assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure prevention, intersection/traffic jam/turn/emergency assistants, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear collision detection/mitigation, blind spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Key Options
A rear-seat comfort pack brings LED reading lights, ventilation and massage functions, power seat adjustments with lumbar, heated armrests, and a power outlet.
You can also add a head-up display and upgraded headlights with dynamic turn signals.

Audi rates the S8’s fuel consumption at 15.9/10.3 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
Like the less-potent A8, the Audi S8 competes with a couple of similarly high-performance full-size sedans: the BMW 760i and Mercedes-Benz S 580.

Issue:
On certain vehicles, the occupant protection flap within the passenger-front airbag module may not have been folded properly. As a result, the airbag could inflate with too much force. If a child or smaller person is seated in the front passenger seat close to the instrument panel, they could be injured when the airbag inflates in a crash.
Safety Risk:
An airbag that inflates with too much force could create an increased risk of injury in a crash.
Corrective Actions:
Audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the passenger-front airbag module.
