History/Overview
The Audi S8 is the result of the German automaker taking their already quick big flagship sedan and deciding that it's just not quick enough. More power, more aggressive styling, and a whole lot more attitude than the A8, this is the one for executives who prefer to do their own driving. Or have chauffeurs with race car driver backgrounds.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The current version of the Audi S8 came to market just last year, so there are no significant changes. Audi has added lane departure warning to the list of driver assistance features, though.
Available Trims
The S8 is offered in just one trim, coming with a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with 48V mild hybrid assistance, quattro all-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic.
Standard Features
In addition to the S8's extra power and more aggressive fascias compared with the A8, it also adds 20-inch double-spoke wheels and summer tires. The lights are LED front and rear with dynamic rear signals and HD Matrix headlights. A predictive air suspension, rear steering, and rear sport differential assist in the handling department. Inside, slip into 22-way adjustable front comfort seats, heated and ventilated and trimmed in Valcona leather. The rest of the cabin is clad in carbon trim and Nappa leather, with power rear sunshades, heat-insulated glass, and four-zone climate control. S8 has Audi virtual cockpit, a head-up display, auto-dimming mirrors, a power trunk lid, and the driver assistance suite includes Audi pre-sense city, side assist with rear cross traffic, exit assist, parking sensors, and lane departure warning.
Key Options
Laser high beam lights are available in a pack with OLED tails and light animations. Driver assistance package options include intersection assistant, active cruise control, traffic sign recognition, active lane depart warning, and turn assist. A rear seat comfort package adds powered rear seats with rear surface heating, ventilation, and massage.
A 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio upgrade is available as is night vision assistant.
Fuel Economy
The S8 is rated for 17.6 L/100 km city, 10.7 highway.
Competition
Audi's S8 competes with the likes of the Mercedes-AMG S 63, the BMW Alpina B7, Porsche Panamera, and private jets.
