Audi's S8 full-size super sedan gets a facelift for 2015, with a new nose and tail, revised engine and interior. The S8 comes with a 520 hp twin-turbo V8, an eight-speed automatic and quattro all-wheel drive. Fuel mileage is rated at 14.2 L/100 km city, and 8.8 L/100 km highway.
The S8 comes only in one fully loaded trim level. Standard equipment includes 21-inch wheels, full LED head and tail lights, and a sunroof. The trunk has power open/close with a sensor to open with your foot. The doors have power assisted close as well. Inside there are 18-way power adjustment front seats, with heat, ventilation, and massage function. The rear seats are heated as well, and the car has four-zone climate control. There is an electric sunshade for the rear window and the rear door windows as well. Audi's MMI infotainment comes with Navigation, satellite radio, and a Bose stereo with 14 speakers. There is proximity keyless entry and push button start, a top view camera, blind spot alert, radar cruise with stop and go, lane guidance, parking sensors and collision detection. The only option package gives you Valcona leather seats, an alcantara headliner, and dual pane break resistant windows.
The S8 is up against some tough competition from the Mercedes S63 AMG, stylish competition from the Maserati Quattroporte and Jaguar XJR, and to some extent, probably a private jet. The surprisingly good fuel economy of the Audi, especially compared to the jet, makes for nicer running costs, and the interior is a beautifully appointed place for four to ride.
