History/Overview
Audi introduced the S5 in 2008 as a performance version of the good-looking A5 coupe. It was redesigned into a second generation in 2018, when it also gained a four-door Sportback body style shared with the A5.

For 2020, the Audi S5 is refreshed with updated styling and a cabin built around a new 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Available Trims
Audi offers all three versions of the S5 -- coupe, convertible (cabriolet), and four-door Sportback -- in Progressiv and Technik trims. The A5's entry-level Komfort does not appear here. All S5 variants get a 3.0L turbo V6, which is matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission and Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system.
Standard Features
S5's exterior comes dressed with 19-inch wheels, heated/power-adjustable/auto-dimming side mirrors, LED matrix headlights, all-weather lights, hands-free trunk opening (the Sportback gets a power tailgate), and LED taillights.
Inside, there's the new 10.1-inch touchscreen, leather steering wheel with shift paddles, three-zone climate control, smartphone/music interface, a 10-speaker stereo, navigation, satellite radio, heated front sport seats with power lumbar/massage/memory, a digital gauge cluster, Nappa leather upholstery, split-folding rear seats, passive keyless entry, panoramic sunroof (coupe and convertible), and an auto-dimming frameless rearview mirror.
The S5's standard safety kit comprises city-speed forward collision detection and mitigation, rear collision detection, rain-sensing wipers, auto on/off headlights, exit warning, Audi connect, rear cross traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.
Technik trim brings laser light headlights, 360-degree exterior camera views, headlight washers, power-folding side mirrors, dynamic taillights, ambient interior lighting, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo.
Key Options
Both trim levels can be optioned with the advanced driver assistance pack: adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and traffic congestion assists, traffic sign recognition, and all-speed forward collision detection.
Fuel Economy
Audi's fuel consumption estimates for the S5 are 11.8/8.9 L/100 km (city/highway) for the coupe and Sportback, and 12.1/9.1 for the convertible.
Competition
With the S5, Audi competes with uplevel versions of the BMW 4 Series, Mercedes-Benz's C-Class coupe and convertible, Volkswagen's Arteon, the Kia Stinger, and Infiniti's Q60.
