History/Overview
After a few years’ hiatus, the Audi RS 7 is back as the highest-performance version of the brand’s mid-size hatchback model.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
The RS 7’s look is new for 2021, and it’s got more power than before, too.
Available Trims
Audi offers the RS 7 in a single trim, powered by a turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine, an eight-speed transmission, and AWD.
Standard Features
Exterior features include 21-inch wheels and tires, heated/auto-dimming/power-folding side mirrors, RS bumpers and rear spoiler, a sport exhaust, lighted door sills, laser light headlights, LED taillights, power door closers, passive keyless entry, and a power tailgate.
Inside, there’s a flat-bottomed steering wheel with shift paddles, RS sport seats, Valcona leather upholstery, eight-way power driver’s seat, four-way driver and front passenger lumbar, power steering wheel adjustments, front seat ventilation, leatherette dashboard and door armrests, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, four-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a rear window sun shade.
Tech features include satellite radio, a smartphone interface, head-up display, wireless smartphone charging, a 10.6-inch infotainment display, navigation, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo.
Safety-wise, you get tire pressure monitoring, automatic high beams, pre sense rear, and blind spot monitoring.
Key Options
A driver assistance package adds traffic sign recognition, turn assist, traffic congestion assist, active lane assist, efficiency assist, emergency assist, and active cruise assist.
A dynamics package adds a sport rear differential, and all-wheel steering.
Fuel Economy
Audi’s fuel consumption estimates for the RS 7 are 16.0/10.5 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
Audi designed the RS 7 to run with Europe’s quickest mid-sized cars, so it will keep up with the likes of a BMW M5, Mercedes-AMG E 63 or Porsche Panamera Turbo. Its large cargo area also means the RS 7 is an excellent alternative to high-powered SUVs and crossovers.
